Do what comes Naturally

“You should have listened to me….” Have you ever found yourself saying this to anyone? If you’re reading this, and you’re a woman, then you’ve probably said these words or been tempted to say them more times than you can count. At the time of giving the advice, you most likely didn’t have concrete reasons to support your counsel; you only felt they shouldn’t do what they wanted to do. And they probably didn’t yield to your counsel, because you had no fact or figure to prove your point.

Women have been named as creatures of instincts and intuition, ruled by their intuition and emotions rather than by logic or facts. And women often find this notion insulting or as being considered less intelligent. But I do believe it’s a plus, though it needs to be managed and balanced, yet it’s an edge that can be harnessed.

Women naturally have maternal instinct, which enhances them with these attributes-

  • Sensitivity
  • Compassion
  • Nurturing ability
  • A great sense of perception of people, events and actions.

These instincts could bear greatly on the fulfillment of a woman’s true purpose, and the depth and result of her influence in the home, church, work, society, etc.

As women, we’ve got to pay attention to these instincts, we shouldn’t allow the demands of everyday living and the conflicting expectations of the society of us distract us from maximising these natural instincts.

Sensitivity: We are meant to feel the pulse of our environment, people and situations, and discern the right actions to be taken. As a mother, wife, entrepreneur, career woman, minister, and in all the roles we might have to play, we have to fulfill our responsibility of staying sensitive. Be sensitive to people, to situations, happenings, because certain mishaps could have been avoided if someone was sensitive. Maximise your innate sensitivity for the good of whatever you are a part of- be it your family, workplace, church, society, etc. As Christian women, our sensitivity should be further heightened as we build and fuel our relationship with the Holy Spirit. He will reveal beyond our natural abilities can discern and show us the right path to follow.

Compassion: Compassion is an instinct we shouldn’t deaden in our efforts to be firm, particularly in a society like ours, where people are too harsh on others. Our caring nature should be evident in our interactions. Souls can be won and destinies can be saved by our compassion.

Nurturing Ability: Women are natural nurturers. We have been programmed by God both physically and in all respect to be nurturers. With our words and actions, we can nurture people and dreams to fulfillment. Let’s deliberately make it our priority to nurture, consciously nurturing those in our sphere of influence- with our words, prayers, actions, resources, to fulfill their destiny. God placed them close to us for a reason.

Great Sense of Perception: Our keen sense of perception often makes us a better judge of character, thus we can help those in our sphere of influence make the right decisions about people to trust. More so, our intuition helps us discern right or wrong decisions, which is most definitely a plus for every person or institution we are a part of.

Woman, don’t underplay your natural tendencies, God gave you these attributes to fulfill his greater purposes. Harness these abilities and maximise them in fulfilling God’s purposes.
